**Starbase Unity | Intel Offices**
Arv rang the chime to the offices, he found it totally bogus he couldn’t get inside of the office themselves thinking the spook’s had their own private clubs or something. He waited for her to answer, something must be going on to have them locked down like this.
He knocked on the door for good measure, this wasn’t a good time not at all! Xie was gonna be there by the end of the week! Her information would be going through port authority which meant Kate or one of her minions would see it, and he needed to tell her first!
She was feeling pretty good this morning, had gotten all her back cases filed and closed, talked with her contacts bact at HQ and it was mystery drink day with Tom later, something she was actually starting to look forward to.
Standing up behind her desk, Kate picked up her now empty coffee cup to refill it before tackling the chatter feeds before her lunch. She had forgotten about putting her office on lockdown during her briefing with HQ until she head the knock.
"Computer, unlock door and return to normal operations, Winslow nine six three two beta." She stated softly before clearing her throat and calling out "Enter." In her normal tone.
“Finally,” He sighed walking into her office. “It takes an act of your Abrahamic God to get you to open this door. What you do hiding away from me again?” He said sarcastically. He went and sat down and asked “Well you aren’t gonna offer me something to drink? I am hurt.”
Well scratch that, her morning had been going well. "Darze, what a surprise, how are you today? Good? Great. I'm fantastic, thanks for asking." She retorted just as sarcastically back to him as she chose to stand. "As for a drink, there's coffee or water, over there." She pointed off to his left.
He got up and grabbed some coffee. “You really do hate Klingon Coffee don’t you?” He rolled his eyes and sat back down again putting his feet up.
"What brings you to my department Doctor? I'm not due for a physical and I made sure all my people came in when we arrived on Unity."
“This is a personal visit, I know you haven’t had one of those from me in quite a while. One thing I know you’ve got my infirmary bugged, I’d like you to unbug that please.” He wanted to stall as long as possible.
Kate smirked as she arched a brow. "No." She stated simply, relaxing slightly in her stance. "So that's it? Just dropping in to ask me to remove something that's not there?" She chuckled lightly. "Alrighty have a good afternoon, get out."
“Oh you can’t get rid of me that easy. Now I want you to come with me down there to make sure that its not bugged.” He said simply, “Or I will fail all your people on their physucials.” He was just messing with her now waiting ot really get to the point.
“Actually that reminds me, you need to get yours re done.” He added sipping his coffee and watched her eyes.
"Arv cut the bullshit, I didn't bug your sickbay and you are not going to fail my people, what's going on? Make it quick I actually do have work to attend to." Kate said, crossing her arms over her chest as her gaze narrowed. "You came here, now tell me what for or get out."
He looked at her chest and smiled at the memory and then looked back up at her eyes, “Your Physical really does need to be redone that is for sure. But you will have to guess what it is I am really doing here.”
God she hated his mind games. "Fine I'll come in later, happy? Fantastic." She replied. "As for the guessing...You're dating or seeing the Captain? Need a body to disappear? Or does this have to do with your darling sister getting transferred here?" Kate rolled her eyes, as she took a seat finally. "Just spit it out, you're wasting my time."
“I am?” He asked innocently as he leaned over and picked up a random padd and started to pretend to read it. “And to answer your questions,” He said looking at the padd, “No, No and kind of but not really and how did you know she was getting brought here?” He asked genuinely curious about his Sister.
She blew out a breath as she rolled her eyes at him. "Really? You're going to ask me that? I'm Unitys Chief Intellegence officer! I know every person, things and package that comes or passes through here, plus she sent me a message saying she wanted to see me when she arrived." Kate snorted in disdain at that.
"Not sure why, seeing how we just adored each other before."
That was right! He had forgotten that Sian and Kate were a semi item and that it’d prolly continue in Kate’s own weird fashion, “Well I was just curious. You still haven’t reached the right part yet though Katielyn.” He said stretching out her name on purpose. “You still got a bit to go.” He said messing with the padd that he actually unlocked now.
"I was being sarcastic Arv! We hated each other, I wasn't Trill, therefore I wasn't someone good enough for her darling big brother...Ugh...save her doing something crazy I intend to avoid her like the plague." Suddenly she snatched the padd out of his hands and had her phaser pulled on him. "Speak now, I'm done playing games, you have five seconds."
“My Sister actually has a crush on you,” He said, “Why I have no idea though she does, so when she gets here ask her out or I won’t tell you what I came to tell you.” He said, “And put that phaser away or I won’t say anything at all. You need to guess one more time then I will really tell you.” He said, “Want me to give you a clue?” He said.
Holy hell she was going to hurt him one day. "No, one Darze was enough to convince me you all are not for this Winslow." She retorted to his request to date his sister, just cause she was a switch hitter didn't mean she liked Sian. "What? Your Moms coming too?" She said, the sarcasim dripping as a thought crossed her mind that made her blood run cold as she leaned forward over her desk. "No." Her gaze narrowed as her expression got stormy. "No way in hell Darze! We had an agreement!"
“Oh I am sure you would like Sian just fine.” He said rolling his eyes as he leaned forward and grabbed whatever food was on her desk and started to eat, her getting angry didn’t phase him especially since they weren’t dating anymore. “Listen we had an agreement doesn’t mean I can’t change my mind and besides what agreement are you talking about?” He asked wanting to make sure she knew what she was talking about.
"Are you insane? She's six years old! And we just literally delt with people who tried to blow Unity into micro space dust!" She pushed away from her desk as she stood to pace, tugging at her hair. "Here is not safe Arvel! We're here! I know I have enemies and you? Well I know people don't like you in this sector to much!" She turned back to him. "No- Alexandria can not come here, that is not an option and I can't believe you'd be so stupid as to put her in danger like this!"
He listened to her talk it was all just words to him as he flicked crumbs from her food off of his uniform, “And its not safe anywhere. She could die in a planetary disaster or a riot or something else. To say that one place is safer than another is to believe in a lie.” He spoke truthfully. “You need to grow up and admit that you have a daughter.”
He said calmly, “I made the choice that you couldn’t make. Hell, I’ve been an actual parent towards her. What have you been? You gave birth to her. That’s it and distanced yourself from her and me because it was ‘safer’ than the alternative.” He wasn’t angry he was merely telling it as it as. “So you cannot be on a high horse about this. Its about time you grew up.”
"High horse? High horse?! Dammit Darze I was protecting her! You have no clue...Get the hell out of my office before she becomes fatherless!" Kate yelled, finally losing her cool. "I've done the best I thought possible for her! It's not been easy but it's been necessary! At six weeks I was already getting threats from people regarding her and you just up and bring her here? Get the hell out Darze!"
“Yes high horse as your people say.” He said simply as he took his time to stand up watching her the whole time, “You have a week to come to terms with this issue in your life and deal with what is now a new reality. Think of this...you could change professions...As you humans say ‘The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions,’” he said as he turned and looked at her fuming phaser still aimed at him then walking out he waved and turned to walk into the corridor.
She fired off a stun shot as he left, it singed the top of his hair as the door slid shut behind him. "Blasted man!"
He felt his hair and shrugged he needed a haircut anyway she just made it happen sooner. “Well if she wants to play dirty...two can play at this game...Darze 1 Winslow 0.” He said as he whistled down the corridor to his office.
