General Overview: Trained Psychiatrist and is very purposeful in how and when he speaks is able to read people as if he is telepathic and if it wasn't for his the symbiont inside of him he would be mistaken as one.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths: Has a rather strong psyche and can and will win any mental power grab that anyone attempts with him. Likes to play mental mind games with people
Weaknesses: Tends to be arrogant though not at all the time and since he is so recent from being in the Federation Naval Patrol he uses nautical terms a bit to much and will bait crew mates by using seamanship terms that they don't understand.
Ambitions:
To be in charge of his a mental health hospital or furthering his career in the Starfleet Marines
Hobbies & Interests: Practicing his mental abilities on the holodeck consistently tends to stay current on Psychiatrist journals and studies in his spare time. Loves to tinker with his nautical tools and keeping his skills up on the holodeck as well as learning martial arts skills.

Personal History:
Arvel was raised in the same house that his Father was and his Grandfather and his Great Grandfather and so on and so forth several generations back. He is the middle child born between his Sisters Iorwan, Mair and Sian and Cai. In this female rich environment Arvel and his father were rather out numbered and with his Father being the Chief of Staff for the President of Trill and was gone most days and there only on the weekends Arvel learned to to fend for himself against his Sisters and mother.
Growing up he was the only male influence in the house and so he was often out ruled on activities. He was also unique in being the only one that wanted to become a joined Trill. His entire education was geared towards that wanting to gain one of the vaunted symbionts that very few Trill's were able to get due to the rarity of people being able to be able to have one.
Also another interesting venture that he enjoyed was the water he couldn't get enough of it he would run to the lakes and just play. Some thought he was part fish because he spent so much time in the water. Another interest of his was watching people and studying them in depth and watching their interactions.
This caused trouble because he was able to hide and be stealthy and would often get his older Sisters in trouble due to the fact he would watch and observe all that they did including what they did with their boyfriends on the front porch of the house. He'd also get into power struggles at school and win because he could mentally out wit his peers by reading their micro expressions.
As he finished High school he looked to joining the Federation Naval Patrol. Some pushed Starfleet rather then the FNP due to the expansiveness of Starfleet, though Arvel disagreed he felt that his talents and skills were better suited to the FNP.
So when he could he joined the FNP's academy in 2354 and went to school for Psychitary at Harvard on Earth (for that was where branch of the academy was located) which marked his first time leaving the planet of his birth for a prolonged period of time.
The next 8 years went by fast and he finished graduating with honors and with his Doctorates degree of Psychiatry he went to work on his first assignment which was a Naval station on Coridan prime in the year 2362.
After having been there for three months he received the news that he had been waiting for...he had been selected for a symbiont! He was overjoyed and left Coridan to travel back to Trill where he finished the finalizing process and check in to find that it was the Darze symbiont one of the youngest symbionts out there. He was the second host the first having died have a rare illness that was still being named though thankfully it didn't affect the symbiont.
Once he gained the symbiont..Arvel felt different. Which was to be expected due to the joined nature, and he felt more confident about his abilities and he and the Darze Symbiont bonded in their joint love of mind games and playing pranks on people.
He went back to his assignment on the Naval station on Cordian which after a short while he accepted a position aboard a long term exploration cruiser where he was able to practice his nautical skills in 2363.
The new position was on Tellar which wasn't much of a change for him and he adapted quite quickly to the new planet loving the sight of the oceans because he wasn't just watching them he was actually on them long term!
And after he had been stationed there for a year he met and married the woman that captured his heart her name was Danara of Vulcan who was part of a select group of Vulcans that thought it was "illogical to be logical". The marriage lasted all of three years when she died giving birth to that of her child which also died.
This crushed Arvel and he knew that he couldn't face those of the crew he served with so he left Tellar and tried three very different assignments on planets throughout the Federation each one only lasting 6 month periods and his work was falling by the wayside as he felt deep despair over his loss.
Finally after meeting with a fellow Psychiatrist realized that he needed a change of career and also a change of pace. He applied for and was accepted into Starfleet, hoping that a posting aboard a station or a Starship would help him with his loss. He went to the Starfleet Officer Candidate school in 2367.
After spending 8 months in the Starfleet Officer Candidate School to gain the new start that Arvel was so craving. He attended addtional education so he could either be a counselor or a Chief Medical officer.
His first assignment as a Starfleet Officer was aboard the Starship Constantinople where he was Chief Counselor than a year later where he was able to prove his leadership skills. He served there from late 2368 to 2369.
Then he was transferred to the Starship Britannia where he was made the rank of Lt. Cmdr. and was given an award for his service of saving a post Cardassian war Veteran from killing several members of the crew. After two years assigned to the Brittania. He was then assigned to Starbase Unity as the Chief Medical Officer in 2371, He has passed the Bridge Officer exam.
